Is Drobu right for you?

Drobu is a great fit if

• You copy more than text. Screenshots, GIFs, images, and files pile up all day, and you want them in one place you can actually work with.
• You want to edit before you paste. Cropping a screenshot or trimming a clip without a detour through Preview or QuickTime is the whole point.
• You care about privacy. You run Little Snitch or NextDNS, you read privacy policies, and "local-only, no account, no tracking" is a requirement, not a nice-to-have.
• You are done with subscriptions. A one-time $14.99 that you own beats another $X/year line item.
• You live on the keyboard. Search your history and paste one item or a whole stack without touching the mouse.

Drobu is probably not for you if

• You need clipboard sync across iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Drobu is Mac-only and local by design; if iCloud sync is essential, Paste is a better fit.
• You only ever copy plain text and want it free. Maccy is a great free, open-source clipboard manager for exactly that.
• You need source code you can audit yourself. Drobu's source is published for transparency, but it is a commercial product, not an open-source one. (You can still verify it never sends your clipboard, see below.)
• You are on macOS 13 or earlier. Drobu needs macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later.
• You want a full screenshot annotation suite (arrows, blur, markup). That is CleanShot X's job; Drobu records and trims, it does not annotate.

The fairest way to decide
